Plenty of GC players contribute to pair of Midwest Conference tennis victories

MONMOUTH, Ill. - Three Grinnell College women's tennis players went a perfect 4-for-4 in leading the Pioneers to a pair of Midwest Conference victories Saturday.

Anika Sheth '26, Nichole Henning '26 and Pari Chavan '27 each won two singles and two doubles matches in the Pioneers' 8-1 victory over Monmouth College and 9-0 shutout of Illinois College.

Sheth won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles against Monmouth and 6-0, 6-1 over the Lady Blues. Henning won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 3 singles against Monmouth and 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 at the No. 4 spot against IC. Chavan won 6-0, 6-1 against Monmouth at No. 4 and 6-1, 6-0 against IC at No. 3.

Sheth and Chavan posted an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles against Monmouth and won 8-4 against the Lady Blues. Henning teamed with Isa Voinescu '26 at No. 1 doubles to win 8-4 against Monmouth and 8-2 against IC.

Three other Pioneers won three matches each - Voinescu, Alyssa Trapp '27 and Addie Persian '27. Trapp won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles against Monmouth and teamed with Persian at No. 3 doubles to win 8-0 against the Fighting Scots and 8-2 against IC.

Persian added a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles against IC and Voinescu won 6-0, 6-0 at the top spot against the Lady Blues. At No. 5 singles, Nehir Ergun '26 was a 6-2, 6-0 winner in both matches.

Grinnell, 3-0 both overall and the MWC, plays in the ITA Regional next weekend.
