Grinnell women rally to earn 1-all draw with Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. - Grinnell College's women's soccer team used a rally early in the second half to come away with a 1-all tie with Monmouth College Wednesday afternoon.

The Pioneers, who last weekend clinched their third Midwest Conference Tournament berth in a row, are now 5-1-1 in the league and 8-4-3 overall. Monmouth remained in the hunt for a MWC tourney berth by moving to 3-3-2 in conference play and 5-8-4 overall.

Grinnell trailed 1-0 at halftime, but just four minutes into the second half tied the contest on Ramona Delborne's '26 team-high fourth goal of the season. On the play, Delborne charged the goal and took a shot that caromed off the keeper's hand right in front of the net. Delborne kept with it and tapped the ball in from short range for the ninth goal of her career.

The Pioneers owned the offensive front, taking 23 shots compared to nine for the hosts. Reese Komsthoeft '25 and Amelia Dueñas '26 each took four of those shots, Katie Carson '25, Giada Bambi '25 and Campbell Swaim '28 had three each and Rama Joshi '27 and Delborne added two apiece. Sarah Travis '27 and Maya Mozena '28 took one shot each.

Peyton Dixon '27 was in goal for Grinnell and made three saves.

The Pioneers finish the regular season Saturday at Lawrence University. Action in Appleton, Wis., begins at 1:30 p.m.
