Grinnell women's soccer team puts up great fight in MWC Tourney loss to Lawrence

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – After losing 6-0 to Lawrence University last Saturday, Grinnell College's women's soccer team was on a mission in Friday's rematch at the Midwest Conference Tournament.

And the Pioneers rose to the occasion, playing spectacular defense and posting an overall improved effort in a 1-0 loss to the league co-champs at Lake Forest College's Mohr Field.

The lone goal for the second-seeded Vikings came in the 39th minute, and they held on from there to advance to Saturday's title match against host and top seed Lake Forest.

The third-seeded Pioneers, who finished with a mark of 8-6-3, allowed eight fewer shots than their previous meeting with Lawrence. Grinnell had one shot itself, that from Rama Joshi '27.

Grinnell keeper Peyton Dixon '27 recorded eight saves against the 14-4-2 Vikings. Dixon moved up Grinnell's career chart in several categories this season, as she is second in shutouts with 18, sixth in victories with 178 and 10th in saves at 137. Additionally, she had six shutouts this season, which is ninth all-time.
