GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College athletes have swept the Midwest Conference Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week honors.
Sophia Carroll '25 claimed the award on the women's side and
Rommin Adl '26 won it for the men. This marks the sixth time this season a member of Grinnell's men's team won the honor and the fourth time for the women's squad.
Adl, from New Canaan, Conn. (New Canaan), was a triple champ as the Pioneers tuned up for the MWC Championships at the Grinnell Mini-Invite Saturday. He won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.06 seconds and swam legs on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays that had times of 1:35.98 and 1:26.91, respectively.
Carroll, from San Antonio, Texas (Alamo Heights), won all three events in which she competed at the Grinnell Mini-Invite. She was first in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles with times of 25.44 seconds and 54.36, respectively. She also was on the first-place 200 freestyle relay team that had a time of 1:43.93.
