Grinnell finishes tough trip to Minnesota with 1-1 mark

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Grinnell College's men's soccer team concluded a rugged trip to Minnesota Sunday, dropping a 4-0 decision to a Macalester College team that is receiving votes for the national rankings.

The trip also included a 1-1 tie against a potent Carleton College squad on Saturday. That snapped the Knights' eight-match winning streak against Grinnell (1-2-3), dating back to 2002.

Macaelster (6-1) scored three goals in the first 45 minutes for a 3-0 halftime lead on Sunday.

Grinnell did hold a 4-3 edge in corner kicks and managed five shots, with four of those by Samuel Gojjam '27 and another by Jaxon Willoughby '26. Gojjam and Willoughby each had a shot on goal.

Caden O'Neil '28 was in goals for the Pioneers and made seven saves.

Grinnell returns to Springer Field Saturday for a non-conference match against Nebraska Wesleyan University. Kickoff is 11 a.m.
