GRINNELL, Iowa - The home squad put on a strong display of depth while claiming yet another women's team title at the Grinnell Invitational swimming and diving meet Saturday.


Grinnell College managed three event victories and combined that with plenty of other high finishes as it won the crown for the fifth year in a row. The Pioneers put together 1388.5 points, well ahead of runner-up Nebraska Wesleyan University's total of 674.5.

Sarah Lopez '26 won two crowns Saturday at Russell K. Osgood Pool and Sophia Carroll '25 was champ in another. Lopez's titles came in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2 minutes, 8.06 seconds - which ranks third in program history - and the 100 butterfly in 58.05. Carroll was first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.40.

Grinnell boasted three individual runners-up, Eva Cuevas '25 in the 400 individual medley (4:46.95), Samantha Cook '27 in the 200 freestyle (1:56.74) and Camryn Gonzales '25 in the 100 butterfly (58.22).

Lopez, Bella Takata '28, Gonzales and Carroll combined for a runner-up finish in the 200 medley relay in 1:48.08, the sixth-best time in program history. Carroll, Gonzales, Aliya Swearngin '25 and Cook were second in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:36.20.

Maya Comer '28 was fourth in the 400 individual medley and 100 breaststroke, and Vivian Woare '28 was fourth in the 100 butterfly and 200 backstroke. Comer swam 4:50.31 in the IM and 1:10.23 in the breaststroke. Her prelim time of 1:09.92 in the breaststroke is 18th all-time at Grinnell and her clocking in the 400 IM final is 20th. Woare swam 2:12.02 in the backstroke, which ranks 11th in program history, and finished in 1:00.57 in the butterfly. Her prelim time of 1:00.38 in the fly is 16th all-time at GC.

Also placing fourth were Carroll in the 50 freestyle (24.65, ninth all-time) and Zeb O'Hara '28 in the 1650 freestyle (19:01.86). Fifth place went to Josephine Hopkins '28 in the 1650 freestyle (19:02.77), Natasha Zettler '27 in the 400 individual medley (4:54.69) and Gonzales in the 50 freestyle (24.70).

Grabbing sixth-place finishes were Kate Bartz '25 in 3-meter diving (202.75 points), Regan Stambaugh '26 in the 400 individual medley (4:54.75) and Cook in the 100 butterfly (1:01.02).
