Grinnell women's soccer team provides strong effort in home finale

GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell College's women's soccer team put forth a strong effort in its home finale Saturday afternoon, but solo goals by Illinois College in each half helped the Lady Blues escape Springer Field with a 2-0 victory.

Statistically the teams were nearly even, with Grinnell leading 4-3 in corners and the Lady Blues owning a 12-11 edge in shots.

Keiko Smith '26 had three shots for Grinnell (5-6-4 overall, 2-2-2 Midwest Conference), while Ramona Delborne '26 and Teya Lochridge '29 added two apiece. Firing off one shot each were Zoe Kunzman '28, Campbell Swaim '28, Maya Mozena '28 and Amelia Dueñas '26.

Peyton Dixon '27 worked the goal for the Pioneers and made five saves.

Illinois College (10-6-2, 6-1 MWC) scored its goals in the 19th and 63rd minutes.

The Pioneers have a week off before playing at Lake Forest College next Saturday. Kickoff is 11 a.m.
