Nehir Ergun claims Midwest Conference singles championship

MADISON, Wis. - Grinnell College's Nehir Ergun '26 claimed the No. 6 singles title at the 2025 Midwest Conference Women's Tennis Individual Tournament Sunday.

Ergun, the top seed in the flight, defeated a Cornell College player 6-4, 6-4 in the championship match at Nielsen Tennis Center.

Three Pioneers posted runner-up honors in singles play, Tan Mukherjee '26 at No. 3, Addie Persian '27 at No. 4 and Alyssa Trapp '26 at No. 5. All three faced Lake Forest College foes in the finals. Both Anika Sheth '26 at No. 1 and Nichole Henning '26 at No. 2 made it to the semifinals before losing.

In doubles play, Persian and Trapp advanced to the finals at the No. 3 spot with an 8-1 semifinal decision over a team from Illinois College. They lost to a Cornell College duo in the title match.

Grinnell's other two doubles entries, Sheth and Henning at No. 1 and the duo of Mukherjee-Ergun at No. 2, made it to the semifinal round.
