Pioneer volleyball's all-time leader list takes a hit in sweep of Ripon

GRINNELL, Iowa - The all-time volleyball leader list at Grinnell College took quite a hit Saturday afternoon as the Pioneers swept Ripon College 26-24, 25-17 and 25-18 at Darby Gymnasium.

Millie Leonard '27 put together another incredible hitting performance, posting an efficiency of .714 which ranks sixth in program history and is best at the school since 2022. 

Additionally, Keira Sullivan '27 served up seven aces which ranks ninth in GC history and is tops for the Pioneers since 2019. The seven aces are also sixth-best at GC in three-set matches.

Kylie Snell '26 added a .588 hitting efficiency for the Pioneers, collecting 11 kills in the process. Leonard had 10 kills and Hayley Taka '26 added 12 while hitting .370. Marlowe Hurst '28 and Kylie-Ann Smith '27 dished out 17 and 14 assists, respectively, as Grinnell improved to 4-1 in the MWC and 11-2 in all matches. Sullivan added 10 digs.

Grinnell trailed the first set 24-20 before a late six-point spurt that included solo blocks by Taka and Leonard, two kills from Leonard and a combo block from Leonard and Leticia Machado '29.

The Pioneers led the second set just 7-6 before going on a 12-point run that included three aces by Sullivan, two kills each by Nicole Mlynski '26 and Snell and one kill from Taka. 

The Pioneers carried that momentum into the third set by scoring the first six points to easily finish off Ripon, which fell to 2-4 in the MWC and 8-16 in all matches.

Grinnell concludes MWC play with three more home matches, beginning with Knox College next Friday night.
