Grinnell women's swimming and diving squad cruises to easy victory over Coe

GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell College's women's swimming and diving team not only dominated Coe College in a dual Friday night, but made a few dents on the program's all-time leader board in the process.

Alex Kruse '29 won 3-meter diving with a score of 244.88, which ranks eighth in program history, and Simone Bennett's '29 winning time of 2 minutes, 11.92 seconds in the 200-yard backstroke is 11th all-time.

Grinnell won 14 events overall on its way to a 205-60 victory over the Kohawks at Russell K. Osgood Pool.

Besides winning the 3-meter diving event, Kruse won 1-meter diving with a score of 223.20. Bennett's other individual victory came in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.33.

Other individual champs for the Pioneers were Zeb O'Hara '28 in the 1000 freestyle (11:45.92), Maya Comer '28 in the 200 freestyle (2:03.23), Regan Stambaugh '26 in the 100 backstroke (1:05.45), Tory Morse '29 in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.49), Vivian Woare '28 in the 500 freestyle (5:37.68), Sarah Lopez '26 in the 200 individual medley (2:18.22) and Samantha Cook '27 in the 50 freestyle (25.69) and 100 freestyle (55.93).

Grinnell also won the 200 medley relay as Lopez, Comer, Bennett and Cook swam 1:53.03. The Pioneers finished the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay as Nina Lyons '29, Morse, Ciara Vogler '26 and Joely Kam '28 swam 1:43.91.

Runners-up for Grinnell were Josephin Hopkins '28 in the 200 freestyle (2:06.00) and 500 freestyle (5:37.75), Stambaugh in the 200 backstroke (2:22.95), Sofia Bedoya-Correa '29 in the 100 butterfly (1:04.99), Lyons in the 100 freestyle (57.03), Evelyn Deutsch '29 in 1-meter diving (178.43) and Bella Nesbeth '26 in 3-meter diving (185.93).
