Grinnell women's soccer team rides another strong defensive performance in MWC Tourney

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Grinnell College's women's soccer team has been a stellar defensive unit all season, and that was never more evident than it was Friday.

The Pioneers held Lake Forest College to its lowest scoring output of the season in the opening round of the Midwest Conference Tournament.

Despite the defensive wall put up by the Pioneers, Lake Forest – a squad receiving votes for the NCAA Division III rankings – eked out a 1-0 victory at Mohr Field.

Grinnell, making its fourth consecutive appearance in the MWC Tourney, saw keeper Peyton Dixon '27 come up with another standout performance. She recorded several incredible stops while earning nine saves overall.

After the Foresters scored a goal in the 10th minute, Dixon and her crew shut them out the rest of the way.

Ella Hunt '26 had both of Grinnell's shots as the Pioneers finished 6-8-4 overall. The unbeaten Foresters, who improved to 19-0, got off 16 shots which is among their lowest total of the season.

Lake Forest will play in the title match Saturday afternoon, with the winner of that contest earning the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
