Grinnell women's team sails to victory over Luther

Results

DECORAH, Iowa - Competing away from home for the first time this season, Grinnell College's women's swimming and diving team rolled to a 168-127 victory at Luther College Saturday.

Sarah Lopez '26, Nina Lyons '29 and Alex Kruse '29 were all double winners for GC. Lopez won the 100- and 200-yard butterfly events in times of 1 minute, 2.10 seconds and 2:16.93, respectively.

Lyons was first in the 500 and 1000 freestyles in 5:32.68 and 11:18.31, while Kruse was tops in 1- and 3-meter diving with scores of 233.40 and 2:11.60. Kruse's performance in 1-meter diving ranks 12th in program history.

Other champs were Maya Comer '28 in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.32), Samantha Cook '27 in the 100 freestyle (55.94) and Joely Kam '28 in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.86).

Individual runners-up were Megan Gawlick '28 in the 1000 freestyle (11:29.53), Cook in the 200 freestyle (2:03.95), Vivian Woare '28 in the 100 backstroke (1:05.77), Sophie Juethner '26 in the 50 freestyle (25.87), Lopez in the 200 backstroke (2:16.66) and Comer in the 200 breaststroke (2:34.05).

Grinnell was second in the 400 medley relay with Simone Bennett '29, Tory Morse '29, Lopez and Cook (4:10.53) and Morse, Cook, Lyons and Ciara Vogler '26 in the 400 freestyle (3:50.33).
