MURFREESBORO, Tenn. –
Karch Knoll '25 picked up a pair of victories to lead Grinnell College's men's tennis team against Southwestern University of Texas in a battle of nationally-ranked squads Saturday morning.
Knoll earned a 6-4, 7-5 sweep at No. 4 singles and teamed with
Henry Park '28 to roll past their foe at No. 3 doubles by a 6-1 score.
The 4-3 Pioneers, ranked 30
th nationally, got their other victory from
Wilder Cooke '25 at No. 2 singles. He rallied past his foe for a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) marathon victory.
Aiden Klass '25 and
Sam Rudenberg '25 also took their foes to three sets at Nos. 3 and 6 singles, respectively.
The Pirates, ranked 34
th national, improved to 4-0 with the win.
Grinnell's next scheduled match is a home date with Iowa Central Community College on March 1. The 11 a.m. contest at the Bear Center Field House will also serve as Senior Day.
