Grinnell swimming and diving teams look to extend Midwest Conference title streaks this weekend

Meet begins on Thursday night with 800 freestyle relay

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's men's and women's swimming and diving teams are looking to extend their Midwest Conference Championships streaks this weekend at Russell K. Osgood Pool.
 
The Pioneer men have won eight league titles in a row and 20 in a 22-year span, while the women have won three consecutive crowns and 23 of the last 25.
 
Grinnell's women hold the top times in individual events with Camryn Gonzales '25 in the 50-yard freestyle, Sophia Carroll '25 in the 100, 200, 500 and 1650 freestyles, Sarah Lopez '26 in the 100 and 200 backstrokes as well as the 200 butterfly and Bella Takata '28 in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes. The Pioneers also have the top times in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays as well as the 200 and 400 medley relays.
 
On the men's side, top-ranked Pioneers athletes are Aidan Donovan '28 in the 50 freestyle, Kevin Fitzgerald '25 in the 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 200 and 400 individual medleys, Evan Feilmeyer '28 in the 200 freestyle and 200 butterfly, Noah Tsukuda '27 in the 500 freestyle, Sam Larsen '25 in the 100 backstroke, Cadel Saszik '28 in the 200 backstroke, Chris Zhou '27 in the 100 breaststroke, Keely Yeager '27 in the 200 breaststroke and Hayden Devorsetz '28 in 3-meter diving (six dives). Grinnell is also first in all five relays – 200, 400 and 800 freestyles, along with 200 and 400 medleys.
 
GC men ranked second include Adam Feilmeyer '25 in the 100 freestyle, Tsukuda in the 200 and 1650 freestyles, Saszik in the 100 backstroke, Larsen in the 200 backstroke, Yeager in the 100 breaststroke, Benke Grobler '27 in the 200 breaststroke, Evan Feilmeyer in the 100 butterfly and Antoni Staszkiewicz '27 in the 200 butterfly and 400 individual medley.
 
Grinnell women's swimmers ranked second are Samantha Cook '27 in the 200 and 500 freestyles, Molly Ryan '27 in the 200 backstroke, Gonzales in the 100 butterfly and Lopez in the 200 individual medley. The Pioneers are also second in the 800 freestyle relay.
 
For the first time, the meet has been extended to four days with the 800 freestyle relay kicking things off at 7 p.m. Thursday. Action continues with prelims at 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday, with finals at 5:30 p.m. both days. On Sunday, prelims start at 9 a.m. and finals at 4 p.m.
