Grinnell men's tennis team provides strong test against 17th-ranked UW-Whitewater

LAKE GENEVA, Wis. - Though the final score was 6-1 in favor of 17th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Sunday's men's tennis matchup against No. 32 Grinnell College was significantly tighter than initial glance.

The hosts needed three sets to win two singles matches and used a second-set tie-breaker to win yet another. Two of three doubles matches, including one UW-W victory, had razor-thin margins.

Grinnell got its double victory from the duo of Aiden Klass '25 and Lucas Willett '26 at the top spot, where they posted a 7-5 win. Henry Park '28 collected Grinnell's singles victory at No. 6, rallying from a 6-0 first-set loss to win 6-1 and then 10-4 in the third-set tie-breaker.

Willett took his foe, ranked 20th regionally, to three sets at No. 2 singles and Sam Rudenberg '25 did the same at No. 5. Karch Knoll '25 bounced back from a 6-2 setback in the first set at No. 4 singles to play his foe within 8-6 in the second.

Grinnell, 4-1 on the season, travels to Tennessee later this week to play Sewanee and Southwestern.
