OWATONNA, Minn. – Grinnell College's men's tennis team flexed its collective muscle Sunday afternoon by rolling over Carleton College 6-1.
Doubles play was a great indicator for the Pioneers, mainly the 6-3 victory over a nationally-ranked tandem by
Lucas Willett '26 and
Albert Bostoen '26 at the top spot. Grinnell completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 decision by
Alex Doane '28 and
Maxi Gutbezahl '29 at No. 2 and 6-2 win by
Aman Kothari '28 and
Devansh Punjabi '29 at No. 3.
In singles, Grinnell won at Nos. 2 through 6 with Gutbezahl (6-2, 6-3),
Garvin Murray '29 (6-4, 2-6, 1-0), Punjabi (6-1, 6-2), Kothari (6-1, 6-3) and
Gervase Ngo '28 (6-1, 6-2). At the top spot, Willett brought his nationally-ranked foe to three sets before falling 4-6, 13-11 and 10-8.
The Pioneers will bring a 6-1 mark into next weekend's matches at North Central College and NCAA Division I foe Northern Illinois University.
