ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Grinnell College's women's tennis team faced a big mountain to climb Sunday, playing at second-ranked Washington University in non-conference action.
The Bears came away with a 7-0 victory, but several Pioneers put up great fights. In doubles,
Paige Sargent '27 and
Isa Voinescu '26 got three games from the seventh-ranked duo in the nation at the top spot as did
Eliana Martin '29 and
Tan Mukherjee '26 against the No. 11 duo at No. 2. At No. 3 doubles,
Pari Chavan '27 and
Marta Gonzalez '29 won four games against the 18
th-ranked squad.
In singles, Sargent won three games against the nation's No. 18 player and Chavan captured five games at the second spot.
Grinnell, ranked 27
th nationally, is now 13-6. The Pioneers play their final home match of the season next Sunday against Central College.
