Grinnell drops season-finale doubleheader to preseason MWC favorite Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Grinnell College's softball team wrapped up its 2026 campaign at preseason Midwest Conference favorite Lake Forest College Saturday afternoon, losing both ends of the twin bill.

The Foresters took the opener 14-3 in five innings and followed that up with a 7-0 decision.

Grinnell managed eight hits in the first game, with three by Lindsey Schultz '27 and a pair from Emma Trani '26. The Pioneers fell behind 14-0 through three innings before finding the scoreboard, with Kala Bisterfeldt '28 hitting a sacrifice fly to right field in the fourth and Schultz hitting a single that resulted in a run in the fifth and Lexi Herrick '28 plating another when she reached via an error. Bisterfeldt's sacrifice fly gives her four in her career, which ranks seventh in GC history.
