Grinnell women's tennis team finishes strong season at NCAA D-III Tourney

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Grinnell College's women's tennis team wrapped up a stellar season Friday, falling 5-0 to Kenyon College in a battle of nationally-ranked squads in the NCAA Division III Tournament regional semifinals.

Grinnell, ranked 27th nationally and eighth in the region, fell behind 1-0 with 6-2 setbacks at Nos. 1 through 3 doubles with the duos of Paige Sargent '27-Isa Voinescu '26, Tan Mukherjee '26-Eliana Martin '29 and Marta Gonzalez '29-Pari Chavan '27.

In singles, Grinnell put up a great fight but lost at the Nos. 1,2, 4, 5 and 6 flights with Sargent (6-0, 6-1), Chavan (6-2, 6-3), Nichole Henning '26 (6-2, 6-0) and Voinescu (6-0, 6-0). Anika Sheth '26 led 6-2, 3-2 at No. 6 singles when the match was halted and Gonzalez trailed 7-5, 3-0 at No. 3.

Grinnell finishes its campaign with a 17-7 mark, while Kenyon - ranked 13th nationally and third in the region, moves on with a 20-5 record.
