GRINNELL, Iowa – Despite dominating the statistical chart, Grinnell College's men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Ripon College on a rainy Saturday at Springer Field.
The Pioneers, who lost for the first time this season and are 7-1 overall and 2-1 in the Midwest Conference, owned the shots battle 17-2 and had 11 corners compared to three for Ripon.
The Red Hawks, who improved to 4-2-1 overall and 2-1 in the league, scored the lone goal of the game in the 71
st minute.
Grinnell's shots attack was balanced, with
Jake Lu '30 taking four and
Samuel Gojjam '27 and
Oliver Klemm '29 adding three apiece.
Jack Pennachio '28 added two shots and
Demi Oni '27,
Zander Salva '29,
Gavin Egeland '30,
Ian O'Loughlin '28 and
Amore Watanabe '30 tallied one each.
Jack Alexander '29 was in goal for Grinnell.
The Pioneers step out of league play Sunday with a contest at Carleton College. Kickoff is 2 p.m.
