Attended Pocahontas Area High School, where he lettered in football and wrestling four times and track and baseball three years … was first- and second-team All-District defensive line as a sophomore and junior, as well as second-team All-State offensive line as a senior … state place winner in wrestling as a senior and Academic All-State … state qualifier in the shot put as a senior in track … second-team All-Conference utility player as a junior in baseball and second-team as a catcher as a senior … member of the National Honor Society, National Council of Youth Leadership and was an Honor Graduate.
