Andrew Johnson has joined the Grinnell College athletic staff as an assistant coach for cross country and track and field.
Johnson graduated from Luther College in Decorah in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in biology while minoring in secondary education. He served as team captain for the Norse as a senior while earning All-Conference recognition in the 4x800-meter relay at the Iowa Conference Indoor Championships. He has since earned a master's degree in kinesiology and health, with an emphasis in exercise and sport science, from the University in Wyoming.
Johnson served as a volunteer assistant coach in track and field/cross country at Luther from 2016-17, gaining valuable experience in recruiting. He was assistant cross country/track and field coach at Standley Lake High School in Westminster, Colo., from 2017 through 2019.
He earned his USTFCCCA Technical Coaching Certification in 2017 and served as a graduate teaching assistant at Wyoming the last two years.
