Personal: 
Born in Iowa to the parents of Joseph and Mary, and has two siblings, Amelia and Catherine. He graduated from Ames High School.

High School:
    Was named an All-State Orchestal Violist, and was named the Most Dedicated and earned All-Academic Honors while swimming for his High School.
