Dalton Meredith joined Grinnell College as an assistant coach for the softball program in 2022.
In the Pioneers' first season, head coach Lexy Determan and Meredith were named the Midwest Conference Softball Coaching Staff of the Year.

A native of Amelia, Ohio, Meredith received his bachelor's degree from Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio, where he majored in sport management with a minor in coaching. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in coaching and exercise science from Concordia University, Irvine. Meredith comes to Grinnell from Middle Georgia State University in Cochran, Ga.

He got his coaching start while in college at Wilmington, where he was the student assistant for the softball team, holding that role from 2015-19. His main responsibilities were helping the coaching staff with everyday duties, filming games and practices, coaching the outfielders and catchers and serving as top assistant coach for the JV team.

After graduating from Wilmington, Meredith became the assistant softball coach at Middle Georgia State University, where he spent the last two seasons. At Middle Georgia, his main on-field responsibilities were coaching all defensive positions and base running while assisting with hitting. Off-the-field responsibilities including recruiting, planning/running all workout sessions including weightlifting, conditioning and speed training. He also planned all travel arrangements, scouted opponents and helped organize prospect camps. Â

While at Middle Georgia, he helped guide the team to the best defensive season in program history in 2021. The squad committed the fewest errors in a season (51) and tied for best fielding percentage in a season (.959). Also, the team's catcher won a Gold Glove for best defensive catcher in the conference in 2021. Another player was 15th in the nation in stolen bases while breaking the school record for stolen bases in a season with 32. Middle Georgia went on to finish fourth in its conference, the program's best finish since joining the NAIA ranks.
