Alex Place joined the Grinnell College women's soccer program as an assistant coach in the summer of 2019.
Place was a four-year starter and two-year captain at Cornell College, where she graduated with a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology with a minor in kinesiology. She has since earned her master’s degree in biology from the University of Northern Iowa.
Place also has significant coaching experience. She serves as head coach both for the Cedar Falls High School girls team as well as the Iowa Rush North based in Waverly and is a former assistant varsity coach at Xavier High School in Cedar Rapids.
Additionally, Place served as head coach at Berkshire Soccer Academy for Girls in East Otis, Mass., where she had the opportunity to learn from professional players and coaches from across the country including Mia Hamm, Kristen Lilly, Brandi Chastain and Rose Lavelle.
