Deidre Freeman Huff

Deidre Freeman Huff has been named the associate head swimming and diving coach/aquatics director at Grinnell College.
 
Freeman Huff, who coached the Pioneer divers last season, also served as diving coach at the College from 2011 to 2014 where she mentored multiple Midwest Conference champions, regional qualifiers, and one NCAA qualifier. Following her first coaching stint at Grinnell, she spent time as the diving coach at Colgate University, Hamilton College, and volunteer diving coach at the University of Iowa. She also coaches the Grinnell-BGM-Baxter high school divers and coached the 2022 Iowa diving state champion, who went on to dive at a Division I collegiate program.
 
A Grinnell native, Freeman Huff began her diving career in the old PEC pool before completing a successful collegiate career at the University of Iowa, where she majored in Spanish and Religious Studies and completed a master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration and Policy. She was a two-time All-American and still holds both 1-meter and 3-meter school records. Freeman Huff continued diving professionally after college and competed for the USA national team.
 
She was a three-time U.S. national champion in 3-meter and 3-meter synchronized diving, a finalist at the 2013 World Championships, a bronze medalist at the 2015 Pan American Games, and 2012 and 2016 Olympic Trials finalist.

Prior to her new position, Freeman Huff worked in the Development and Alumni Relations office at Grinnell College. She and her husband, Jordan, have a son, Tryggve.
