WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Grinnell College men's tennis team will have a rematch with Coe College in the NCAA Division III Regional Team Tournament later this week.
The Pioneers, one win shy of tying the school record for wins set in 2006, bring a 24-6 mark into Friday's 9 a.m. match at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Coe is 22-7.
Grinnell, ranked 14th in the Central Region, defeated the 13th-rated Kohawks 5-4 on April 7 in Grinnell.
Friday's other first-round match has host UW-Whitewater (21-7) taking on Concordia of Wisconsin (14-10). The Grinnell/Coe winner meets Washington University of Missouri (15-6) at 9 a.m. Saturday, while the UW-Whitewater/Concordia winner takes on Gustavus Adolphus (20-7).
Saturday's winners play for the regional title at noon Sunday, with the victor advancing to the national finals May 21-23 in Cary, N.C.
Regional matches will take place on the campus of UW-Whitewater at the Wangerin courts. The matches will be moved to Four Lakes Athletic Club in Elkhorn, Wis. in the event of inclement weather.
