GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College claimed two individual awards and other numerous honorees on the 2025-26 All-Midwest Conference Men's Tennis Team.
Maxi Gutbezahl '29 was named the league's Newcomer of the Year, while
Zack Hasenyager was tabbed Coach of the Year after guiding the Pioneers to their 22
nd consecutive MWC crown. That is the longest in conference history in any sport. Hasenyager's teams are 30-0 in MWC play since he took over in 2021-22 and have won five titles.
Gutbezahl, the MWC champ at No. 2 singles and doubles, was 21-6 in singles play and 20-5 in doubles. Other All-MWC honorees in singles besides Gutbezahl were
Lucas Willett '26 and
Garvin Murray '29. Willett, the MWC champ at No. 1 doubles, went 12-11 in singles and 14-11 in doubles while Murray posted records of 12-6 in singles and 11-7 in doubles. He was on the No. 3 championship doubles team at the MWC Tourney.
Willett and Gutbezahl were also All-MWC in doubles, as were
Alex Doane '28,
Albert Bostoen '26 and
Gervase Ngo '28. Bostoen, the MWC champ at No. 5 singles and No. 1 doubles, went 6-3 in singles and 13-11 in doubles. Doane, champ at No. 2 doubles, was 20-5 in that area and 2-2 in singles while Ngo, the No. 3 doubles champ, went 11-7 in doubles and 9-4 in singles.
The MWC Player of the Year was Felipe Moraes of Lake Forest College.
