Box Score

GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College men's tennis team split singles matches with Carleton, but the Knights still earned a 6-3 victory in a battle of regionally-ranked squads Saturday afternoon at 10th Avenue Courts.

Grinnell won at Nos. 4, 5 and 6 singles with C.J. Ray '16 (7-5, 7-6), Tracy Johnson '16 (7-6, 5-4, retired) and Charlie Wilhelm '15 (6-3, 6-3).

Grinnell, ranked 14th in the Central Region, is now 18-10 while the eighth-ranked Knights moved to 11-3.

“I was pleased with the response our players gave after being swept in doubles,” said Grinnell coach Andy Hamilton. “We played with a lot of heart and spirit in singles, and ultimately good things happened for us. We have a challenge tomorrow against a regionally-ranked opponent in Luther. I think our guys will up for that challenge.”

The contest with Luther will be played at Blackhawk Tennis Center in Waterloo.
