Grinnell netters tie school record for wins with pair of victories Saturday

GALESBURG, Ill. – The Grinnell College men's tennis team tied the school record for wins in a season with a pair of victories Saturday.

Grinnell improved to 25-3 overall and 3-0 in the Midwest Conference South Division after beating Illinois College 9-0 and Knox College 8-1. The only other Grinnell team to win 25 matches in a season was the 2006 squad.

Singles winners against Illinois College were Elliott Czarnecki '15, Rob Storrick '15, Sam Catanzaro '16 and Will Hamilton '15. The doubles teams of Catzanaro-Hamilton and Charlie Wilhelm '15-C.J. Ray '16 also won.

Against Knox, Grinnell swept singles play with Czarnecki, Emilio Gomez '15, Cole Miller '17, Ray, Tommy Pitcher '17 and Tracy Johnson '16.

Grinnell won at doubles with the teams of Gomez-Johnson and Ray-Miller.

The Pioneers takes on Lake Forest and Dominican on Sunday.
