GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College volleyball team put up an impressive fight against Ripon College before falling in three sets Saturday afternoon at Darby Gymnasium.
The Pioneers lost by scores of 25-18, 25-18 and then a thrilling 30-28 decision in the third set where both squads staved off set points by the opponent.
Evelyn Weidman had another strong effort at the net for Grinnell, coming up with nine kills and hitting .300.
Olivia Fromm added seven kills and
Margaret Giles tallied 24 assists.
Sydney Vrecenar served up three aces and had 12 digs.
Ariel Lepito added three total blocks.
Grinnell is now 0-6 in the Midwest Conference and 0-15 overall, while Ripon moved to 4-1 in league play and 7-12 overall.
The Pioneers are at Lake Forest College on Friday.
