APPLETON, Wis. -  Grinnell College's football team finished its season on a solid note Saturday afternoon, beating Lawrence University 34-27. 
All of the scoring came in the first half. The contest was tied 7-all after one period before the Pioneers outscored the hosts 27-20 in the second frame. 
Sam Poulos threw five touchdown passes for Grinnell in his Pioneer finale. 
Henry Cummings caught a 32-yard touchdown pass from Poulos with 7:43 left in the first period to open the scoring before Lawrence tied it. 
In the second period, Cummings caught an 18-yard TD aerial from Poulos with 14:14 left. After Lawrence scored, 
Emmi Sandoval hauled in an 18-yard scoring pass from Poulos at the 10:18 mark. 
Lawrence retlatiated two two scores for a 27-19 lead, but 
Carson Dunn caught a 31-yard scoring pass from Poulos with 3:02 left in the half and Poulos hit Sandoval with a 7-yard TD strike at the 28-second mark. 
Poulos had an amazing day, completing 22-of-36 aerials for 269 yards. Cummings and Sandoval had five catches each for 67 and 59 yards, respectively, while 
Greg Ruzich and Dunn each made four catches. 
Defensively, 
Ryan Slager made 15 tackles, 
Jacob Beecher had nine and 
Kent Hoover and 
Edward Hardman eight apiece. 
Grinnell finishes at 2-8, while Lawrence is 1-9.
