MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – Grinnell College's women's basketball team lost a 52-45 decision to Cornell College on Wednesday night.
The Pioneers, who are 2-1 in the Midwest Conference and 3-2 overall, led by 11 points after three periods before the Rams made a furious charge to get the win.
Alissa Hirsh '16 scored 17 points for Grinnell on 6-of-8 shooting from the field, while
Kayla Morrissey '18 had 11 points and
Alex Neckopulos '17 grabbed 12 rebounds.
Hirsh also had three assists and
Sophia Gatton 17 tallied two steals.
Grinnell led 15-9 after one period and 26-22 at halftime before grabbing a 41-30 lead heading into the final quarter.
Grinnell entertains St. Norbert College Saturday at Darby Gymnasium. Game time is 3 p.m.
