GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's softball team dropped a pair of Midwest Conference contests Wednesday, falling 16-1 and 11-0 to South Division leader Cornell College.
In the opener,
Sage Juveland '17 and
Melissa Anderson '18 each had two hits for Grinnell.
Cornell got out to a 5-0 lead with two runs in the third inning and three in the fourth. The Pioneers scored in the bottom of the fourth when
Kayla Morrissey '18 singled up the middle, moved to second on Anderson's single to left, took third on
Kristina Weber's '16 sacrifice and scored during an error on the play.
Cornell added three runs in the fifth and eight in the sixth.
The Rams, 24-4 overall and 8-1 in the league, led just 2-0 through three innings of the second game before scoring six in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Andi Leff '18 and Weber each had two hits for Grinnell, which is 2-21 overall and 2-5 in the league.
