CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Grinnell College baseball team dropped a 14-5 decision at Coe College on Wednesday.
Walker Bell '15 and
Matt Godinsky '16 each had two hits for the Pioneers, who are 15-16.
Coe broke out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning before the Pioneers cut the lead in half with Godinsky's two-run homer to left in the fourth.
Coe tallied four runs in the fifth, another in the sixth and one more in the seventh for a 10-2 lead.
The Pioneers tacked on four runs in the eighth with the aid of an RBI double to left-center by Bell and RBI single through the left side by Godinsky.
Coe, 27-12, finished off the scoring with four runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Noah Mathews '17 was the pitcher of record for Grinnell.
The Pioneers have a pair of big home doubleheaders this weekend, facing Illinois College both Saturday and Sunday.
