GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's men's soccer team reeled off what is believed to be the three fastest goals in school history in a 4-0 victory over Buena Vista University Wednesday at Springer Field.
The Pioneers broke open a scoreless tie with three goals in a span of 1 minute and 47 seconds to grab a 3-0 lead. They added another less than four minutes later for a 4-0 advantage.
The contest was stopped with 17:17 remaining due to darkness.
After a scoreless first half,
Artis Curiskis '18 opened the scoring on an assist by Antonio Dimarco in the 62nd minute. On the play, the ball entered into the box from the right corner and bounced around. The keeper came up to grab it when Curiskis slipped behind, hitting the ball off his chest into the goal.
In the 63rd minute, Grinnell cleared the ball to the right side and
Francisco Sanchez-Conde '18 received it. He dribbled a few feet and shot it over the defenders and the keeper's hands, sailing into the net.
Noah Fluharty '19 had the assist.
Just 18 seconds later,
Nicholas Brule '17 fired in a goal on Dimarco's assist. Grinnell finished off the scoring in the 68th minute when Dimarco scored on
Zachary Thal's '16 assist. Thal dribbled up the left side of the field where he worked past a defender and got the ball to Dimarco, who sent it into the net.
Grinnell won the shots battle 16-2, with Curiskis taking four shots and Dimarco three.

The Pioneers, 3-4 on the season, open Midwest Conference play Saturday at Knox College.
