GALESBURG, Ill. – The Grinnell College men's soccer team made a valiant comeback, but fell short as unbeaten Knox College eked out a 3-2 Midwest Conference victory Saturday.
The Pioneers, who are 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the league, trailed 2-0 at halftime and then 3-0 after a Knox goal in the 77th minute.
Nicholas Brule '17 scored for Grinnell in the 86th minute on an assist by
Antonio DiMarco '18, while
Artis Curiskis '18 scored in the 89th minute.
Knox won the shots battle 13-8, with
Ambar Kakkar '16 taking two of those for the Pioneers.
Major May '17 had five saves for Grinnell.
Knox is now 6-0-1 overall and 1-0 in the MWC.
Grinnell hosts Ripon College next Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
