GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College, playing its first home men's basketball game of the new calendar year, celebrated in solid fashion Tuesday night with a 119-94 victory over Knox College at Darby Gymnasium.
Kyle Parker '17 hit 6-of-13 shots from 3-poinit land while scoring a game-high 26 points. He also had two steals, as did
Matt Jasaitis '18 and
Ky-Sean Johnson '19.
Jasaitis tallied 21 points with the help of 7-of-15 shooting from beyond the arc, while
Jacob Ekstrand '18 was 5-of-8 from 3-point land and had 16 points.
Vinny Curta '19 had 10 assists, while
Nick Curta '17 nearly had a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Grinnell moved to 3-5 in the Midwest Conference and 6-7 overall, while Knox fell to 0-7 in the league and 1-11 in all games.
Grinnell trailed 18-14 in the first half before responding with a 17-4 run.
Danny Thomas '18 had four points during the spurt, Ekstrand, Jasaitis and
Julian Marx '17 tallied three each, Johnson had two and Parker and
Ikaika Phillip '18 each one as Grinnell built a 31-22 lead.
The Pioneers were up 60-42 at halftime and cruised from there.
