GRINNELL, Iowa –
Julian Marx eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career in the Grinnell College men's basketball team's 95-78 loss to Lake Forest College on Saturday afternoon.
Marx is the 25th Pioneer to join the elite club by scoring 12 points at Darby Gymnasium.
Vinny Curta led the Pioneers, who are 8-13 overall and 5-11 in the Midwest Conference, with 19 points while
Sean Cullinane had 11.
Griffin Boehm and
Jake Van Oort each had six rebounds, while
Mike Porter had two steals and
Kyle Parker five assists.
Grinnell led 40-35 late in the first half before the Foresters rallied for a 53-47 halftime lead. The Pioneers cut it to one at 65-64 on
Ky-Sean Johnson's basket before the visitors went on a nine-point run to pull away.
Lake Forest is 11-9 overall and 9-7 in the MWC.
