GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College men's basketball team made the most of its season finale Saturday, rolling past Illinois College 134-94 on Senior Day at Darby Gymnasium.
Vinny Curta had a monster game for the Pioneers, who finished 9-14 overall and 6-12 in the Midwest Conference. He tallied a game-high 32 points to go along with four assists and three steals.
Julian Marx was 5-of-10 from 3-point land to finish with 19 points, while
Ky-Sean Johnson had 13 points,
Jacob Ekstrand scored 11 and
Kyle Parker put in 10.
Nick Curta added seven rebounds and four blocks.
Grinnell led by one in the early going before breaking things open with an 11-2 run which included a 3-pointer, layup and two free throws by
Vinny Curta, a free throw from Johnson and 3-pointer by Parker for a 22-12 lead.
The Pioneers led 65-44 at the break and never looked back.
Illinois College finished its season at 5-13 in the MWC and 8-15 in all games.
