MADISON, Wis. – "Dominance" is a word the Grinnell College men's tennis team has become accustomed to in Midwest Conference play.

The Pioneers added to that successful run Friday by winning their 13th Midwest Conference title in a row with a 5-0 victory over Lake Forest College. With the victory, Grinnell receives the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Grinnell has now won 14 of the last 15 MWC crowns while boosting its championship total to a league-high 19.

While extending its winning streak against conference foes to 127 matches dating back to 2002, Grinnell improved its record to 29-5 with the victory. The 29 wins are the second-most in a season for the Pioneers.

Grinnell opened the title match by sweeping doubles play with the teams of Â

C.J. Ray (8-5),
Tracy Johnson-
Sam Stickels (8-4) and
Tommy Pitcher-
Bryson Cale (8-3).

Johnson won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles and Pitcher posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6.

Earlier in the day, Grinnell blanked Lawrence University 5-0 in the semifinals.

Grinnell swept doubles against Lawrence with victories by the teams of Ray-Miller (8-1), Johnson-Stickels (8-5) and Pitcher-Cale (8-0).

In singles, Grinnell got 6-0, 6-0 shutouts from Johnson at the third spot and
Sam Catanzaro at No. 6.Â
