MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Grinnell College volleyball team stormed back into the win column in a big way Friday, sweeping Mount Mary College in three sets by scores of 25-10, 25-17 and 25-13.
Olivia Fromm '17 had eight kills for the Pioneers, who are 5-7, and hit .333.
Ariel Lepito '17 and
Sidney Litke '19 added five kills each and
Margaret Giles '18 distributed 10 assists.
Sidney Litke '19 and
Christine Hood '17 each served up three aces, while Fromm and Hood had 10 digs apiece. Fromm also had two solo blocks.
The first set was tied 7-all when Grinnell tallied nine consecutive points.
Evelyn Weidman '17 served eight points during that run and Fromm had three kills to propel Grinnell's path to victory.
Mount Mary led the second set 10-8 when the Pioneers rattled off seven straight points. Weidman served six of those as Grinnell cruised to the win.
In the third set, Grinnell was up just 11-9 before taking off on a 12-3 run. Litke had a five-point service run in that span to help the Pioneers finish off the win.
Grinnell plays at Alverno College on Saturday. With the loss, Mount Mary fell to 2-6.
