BELOIT, Wis. –
Kayla Morrissey '18 posted her second double-double of the season and
Tyria Heath '21 tied her game-high career point total in the Grinnell College women's basketball team's 79-56 loss at Beloit College Friday.
Heath scored a team-high 21 points, matching her total against Iowa Wesleyan University earlier in the week. Morrissey scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while also coming up with three steals.
Regan Kasprak '19 added 13 points and two assists as the Pioneers moved to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in the Midwest Conference. Beloit is 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the league.
May Hanlon '21 had five points and five rebounds, while
Hanna Kessel '19 and
Mikayla Kricfalusi '20 also grabbed five rebounds.
The Pioneers fell behind by 10 midway through the first period, but fought back with an 8-3 run. Kasprak had three buckets during the spurt and Morrissey another as Grinnell came within 18-13 by the end of the frame.
However, the hosts opened the second period with a 10-0 run and stretched their lead to 37-18 by halftime and 57-27 after three quarters.
The Pioneers play at Lake Forest College at 3 p.m. Saturday.
