JANESVILLE, Wis. – The Grinnell College men's tennis team competed in two tough matches Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Tournament and lost both contests, including one that went down to the wire.

The Pioneers, ranked 14th in the Central Region, gave 17th-ranked Wheaton a great battle before losing 5-4.

Will Hamilton '17 was a double winner for Grinnell, posting a 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 singles and teaming with Ben Cobin '20 to win 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

Sam Stickels '19 and
Cole Miller '17 won 9-8 at No. 2 doubles, while
Tommy Pitcher '17 earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles.

Later, regional fifth-ranked and national 17th-ranked UW-Whitewater posted an 8-1 win over Grinnell. The Pioneers got their victory from Miller at No. 2 singles, who won 7-6, 3-6, 10-7.

Grinnell, 3-4 on the season, is in action again next Saturday with a match at Gustavus Adolphus College.
