Grinnell men put up good fight against Luther on opening day of spring break

ORLANDO, Fla. – Grinnell College and Luther College have had some thrilling men's tennis battles over the years, and Monday was no different.
 
All three doubles matches were by 9-8 scores, and five of the six singles matches went to three sets in Luther's 5-4 victory.
 
Cole Miller '17 and Tommy Pitcher '17 each enjoyed two victories in the match. Miller won 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 at No. 1 singles, Pitcher posted a 2-6, 7-5, 10-8 victory at No. 3 singles and the two combined to win 9-8 at No. 1 doubles.
 
Grinnell's other win came from Sam Stickels '19 at No. 2 singles. He won 7-5, 7-5.
 
Earlier in the day, Grinnell lost a 7-2 decision to SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design)-Atlanta. Grinnell's wins were in singles with Ben Cobin '20 at No. 3 (6-4, 3-6, 10-6) and Jack Lunn '20 at No. 6 (6-3, 6-1).
 
Grinnell, 5-7, takes on Babson College on Tuesday.
