JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The good times keep rolling for the Grinnell College volleyball team.
With a pair of victories Saturday, the Pioneers completed a 4-0 mark at the Illinois College Tournament.
The Pioneers stopped Olivet College 25-23, 18-25, 27-25 and then Lincoln Christian College 25-21, 25-20, 30-28 to improve to 8-3, the team's best start to a season since the 1998 team opened at 10-1.
In the win over Olivet, All-Tournament Team selection Kayla Kuhn '21 led the hitting charge with 15 kills.
Emma Willhardt '19 added 13 kills and
Olivia Jensen '21 tallied 11.
The Pioneers also served well, with Jensen coming up with five aces and
Margaret Giles '18 three. Giles also had 40 assists and Willhardt four total blocks.
In the digs department,
Deanna Taylor '18 led the way with 17, while Kuhn and
Madison Smith '20 had 14 each.
Against Lincoln Christian, Willhardt pounded down 14 kills and Giles had 35 assists. Kuhn served up two aces, Taylor tallied 25 digs and
Sydney Vrecenar '18 had 12 digs. Wilhardt had four total blocks.
Grinnell is off until next weekend when it travels to Dubuque for matches against Grace Bible and Emmaus Bible College.
