Pioneer men's tennis team loses to Carleton in battle of regional heavyweights

URBANDALE, Iowa – Grinnell College's men's tennis team lost an 8-1 decision to Carleton College in a battle of regional heavyweights Saturday.
 
Grinnell's win came at No. 6 singles, where Ishaan Tibrewal '21 won a 6-1, 3-6, 12-10 nail-biter. Michael Conlin-Brandenburg also played a three-set thriller at No. 5.
 
Sriram Sugumaran '21, Zach Lane '19, Sam Stickels '19 and Ben Cobin '20 lost in two sets each at the Nos. 1 through 4 spots.
 
Stickels and Conlin-Brandenburg played their foe to an 8-6 decision at No. 2 doubles, while Sugumaran and Cobin lost at the top spot and Tibrewal and Lane fell at No. 3.
 
Grinnell, 1-1 on the season, plays in the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Tournament next weekend. Carleton improved to 4-0.
