GRINNELL, Iowa – Both Grinnell women's basketball seniors had strong days, but it wasn't enough as St. Norbert College posted a 60-46 victory over the Pioneers Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.
Kayla Morrissey '18 posted her seventh double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while
Margaret Giles '18 added career-highs of six rebounds and two steals.
Tyria Heath '21 led the Pioneers (7-13) with 15 points, while
Regan Kasprak '19 poured in 10.
Abby Hellweg '19 added two steals.
Grinnell fell behind 11-4 early, but rallied with a run that included baskets by Giles and Morrissey and 3-pointer from Heath to make it 13-11.
St. Norbert (8-5) led 18-13 after one period and scored the first eight points of the second period.
Grinnell got within single digits once after that, when Morrissey's basket made it a nine-point game at 26-17. However, the Green Knights went on to lead 34-19 by halftime and never looked back.
Morrissey moved her season point total to 400 for the season, good for 10th-best in Pioneer history.
Grinnell plays its final home contest Tuesday when Knox College visits Darby Gymnasium. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
