JANESVILLE, Wis. – Grinnell College split a pair of men's tennis matches Saturday, rolling over Wheaton College 6-3 before losing an 8-1 decision to nationally-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Ishaan Tibrewal '21 was a triple winner on the day. He claimed a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles against Wheaton and was Grinnell's lone winner against UW-Whitewater, a 6-3, 7-5 decision. UW-Whitewater is ranked 38th nationally and seventh in the region.

Tibrewal also teamed up with
Zach Lane '19 to win 8-5 at No. 3 doubles against Wheaton.

The Pioneers swept doubles in the Wheaton dual, as
Sriram Sugumaran '21 and
Ben Cobin '20 won 8-3 at the top spot and
Michael Conlin-Brandenburg '21 teamed with
Sam Stickels '19 to win 9-8 at No. 2.

Cobin also won a 7-5, 7-5 decision at No. 4 singles and Conlin-Brandenburg posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 5.

The Pioneers play Macalester College next Sunday in Owatonna, Minn.
