ORLANDO, Fla. - After a tough morning loss, Grinnell College's mens' tennis team bounced back to close out its spring break trip with a 6-3 win over Hamilton College Thursday.
Grinnell got out to a 2-1 lead after doubles, with wins by the Nos. 2 and 3 duos of
Michael Conlin-Brandenburg '21-
Sam Stickels '19 (8-3) and
Ishaan Tibrewal '21-
Zach Lane '19 (8-2).
The Pioneers finished off the match with four singles wins, those coming at No. 1 from
Sriram Sugumaran '21 (5-7, 7-5, 11-9),
Ben Cobin '20 at No. 4 (6-4, 4-6, 10-4), Conlin-Brandenburg at No. 5 (6-1, 6-4) and Tibrewal at No. 6 (6-4, 7-5).
Earlier in the day, Grinnell lost to once-beaten Calvin College by a 6-3 count. Tibrewal and Lane won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles, while singles winners were Sugumaran at No. 1 (6-4, 1-6, 10-2) and Cobin at No. 4 (6-3, 3-6, 10-2).
Grinnell improved to 11-4 on the season.
